It has been great to be back with the children this week. I can see that they are refreshed and ready to learn in Term 2. The children have had an amazing time playing in the autumn leaves out in the yard. We’ve captured some of the fun (see pictures below) as they play leaf angels, raking, hiding and throwing the leaves. Our tree in the yard shows that the seasons are changing.
Yesterday, we held our school cross country carnival. I was very proud of all of our students. Every child participated in this event and ran in their race to the best of their ability. I often talk about running to children in terms of ‘running is hard’, so it was pleasing to see children pushing themselves as they took on the course. We will present ribbons to the race winners at Monday’s assembly. Children who have been selected to represent our school at Zone Cross Country will have a note sent home today. This note must be returned to school by Monday. The children competing at Zone Cross Country will compete next Wednesday 28th March.
Finally, as part of our work in Catholic Education, staff are attending Staff Proclaim on Wednesday 5th May. This day is a pupil free day, there is no supervision of students at school on this day.
School Cross Country
The Cross Country Carnival yesterday at the Dorrigo Recreational Grounds. We enjoyed some cool but clear weather for this event and it was great to see so many parents and friends there cheering the students on. There was a fun run for K - 2, and 2000m and 3000m events for the older students.
Autumn leaves, blue skies, smiling faces
What a glorious start to Term 2! Welcome back, everyone. This term we have many exciting events to look forward to including our Student Digital Innovators club where I will be providing opportunities for students to learn some new technology. Shyla and Ryleigh had an opportunity to learn a few photography tips on Tuesday and practised using natural light and the rule of thirds to compose photos. I am looking forward to watching this creativity blossom over the term!

Pupil-Free Staff Development Day
Please note that Wednesday 5th May (Proclaim Lismore Staff Day) will be a Pupil Free Day. These days are essential so that we can come together as a staff to undertake professional learning.
Stage 3 Excursion to Canberra Raffle
To raise money for the Stage 3 excursion to Canberra, which will be held on 24th - 28th May, the Stage 3 students are holding a giant raffle. There are some fantastic prizes, such as a load of split firewood, mini portable BBQ, push bikes, scooters, table tennis table, donations from local businesses and more! Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. The raffle will be drawn on 17th May. A book of tickets is being sent home with each family today - if you don't feel you will be able to sell the tickets please return them to school and we will pass them on to another family.

COVID Student Attendance
Staff and students exhibiting even mild COVID-19 symptoms should be sent home and are required to produce proof of a negative COVID-19 test before returning to school.
As per these guidelines, a screenshot of the text message, confirming a Negative result, is all that will be required to return to school.
Instrumental Music With Hazel
We have music tutor available to teach instrumental music through private tuition. Hazel Buchanan is interested in working with our students. Hazel can teach:
- bass guitar
The school owns a flute and a clarinet, which are available for families to borrow long-term at no cost. The payments for lessons are billed each term and paid directly to Hazel. An Essential Element Band Book will be supplied by the school too.
Students wishing to learn these instruments can do so in individual lessons or in small groups depending on the instrument chosen. It is hoped that one day, we can start a small ensemble or band for instrumental students to play together.
